ador...RUN PEOPLE RUN!!! If I am gonna buy a 5D, I'd rather wait for B&H to lower their price.

Whats wrong with Adorama? I have ordered from them and been to their store a number of times without any issues?

I think that $1800 for a refurb is still too much considering you can get a brand new 5D for like $1900 with the printer bundle rebate. Also with a possible rebates expected within the next couple days, I would hold off.

But they won't tell you it's not in stock until *after* they've charged it to your credit card...

I think you're wrong about the printer rebates:

canon 5d $2200
pixma pro9000 $400
instant printer rebate $100
mail in rebate $400
= $2100

camera + wide format printer for $2100 is a pretty good deal, but some of us just don't need another printer or don't want to deal with the hassle of ebay... I sure hope the regular fall rebates happen.

9 refurbs and counting from Adorama...never ever any problems. I deal with the same
guy and he'll even call me when something I'm looking for comes in! That's how I got
my 300 f2.8L IS...rare as hens teeth.

So if you sell the printer after the rebate, you should be able to get around $300 for it on Ebay which would bring the cost down to $1800 for the body alone. I know it's not the direct way to get it, but it's a way I guess. I'm hoping for the rebates too!!!

...so what's so hard about picking up a phone & calling in the order?

Seems like a good price. If I have any interest in a 5D at all & wanted to make sure I got in on this batch of refurbs, I'd call.

Adorama is a decent seller. My only complaint is that I've had to return a number of used items where they really overstated the condition. IMO B&H and KEH are much more accurate in their ratings.

Refurbs usually come in completely unopened direct from Canon - never a problem with them there. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this camera from them.

(Nikon refurbs, now that's a whole 'nother story......)

well the temptation was too great.. I placed an order this morning, using their website. I've never had probs with Adorama before. I've also bought refurbished lens in the past, never an issue. It's cheaper and less risky than a used one.

Maybe I should buy refurbished cameras in future, as my new cameras seem to need a service asap after I buy them Presumably the refurbs have been seen by a technician and tested.

My 30D is a UK refurb and had a tiny mark on the top of it and had obviously been used, the 17-85IS that came with it however was unopened in a sealed Canon box. The Canon UK website does say there mey be minor cosmetic imperfections so I didnt really have a cause for complaint.
I got basically got the lens for free when the 30D was compared to a new item.

It has proven itslef to be totally reliable, I am yet to see as much as a single err99 - it has been faultless since the day of purchase. As a bonus here in the UK all refurbs carry a full 1yr Canon warranty.

My new 5D will also be a refurb as soon as they drop below the $2000 mark (here) on a regular basis

Exactly! Refurbs get indivdual attention and calibration.
