p.1 #1 · Yervant DVDs

Anyone seen Yervant's DVDs? How are they? Are they helpful?

How do they compare to Gino or Jerry Ghionis?

I personally have some of both Gino and Jerry's DVD's. And I must say that Gino's is by far the most instructional and educational.

Jerry's I find inspiring and really cool to see how he works, but you don't get the technical background and explanation that Gino gives. Sometimes I feel like Jerry's DVDs are more for self-marketing.

anyway... any thoughts on Yervant would be helpful.
I'm planning on going to his combi seminar with Joe Bussink here in Sydney next week. I'm guessing his stuff will be on sale there and if I do decide to buy a DVD or two, I'd like to go in with some grounding and expectation about whether it's worth the extra $$$ to buy a DVD.

Cheers

ok so its not even yervant.

and its ONLY 159 bucks. seriously i thought you were talking about a 3000 dollar cd.
stockriderman i think you really have to take a step back and think about what you are doing. are you really hoping to steal from another photographer when the price is a mere 159 bucks.
dude get serious. where are you working? do you have a job? if you are a wedding photographer....the WTF you should have 159 bucks.
im a professional second shooter and im going to be scooping up a 1000 dollar lens later this month.
please quit photography if you are going to go around breaking copyright laws and ripping of fellow photographers.

please excuse my bad grammar as i am not used to this kind of expression.

Being new to photography I relied heavily on DVD's as a learning tool. Also on WPPI in LV, and FM forums.

Yes at first they seemed expensive with the cost of putting together equipment paramount. With that said the more I learned the better I was able to become while shortening the learning curve. The better I have become the more money I have been able to demand with the added ability to purchase better equipment. Invest in education and you will get a larger Return on your Investment. I just shot 4 weddings in August that equaled 17k, for some thats not much, for me and I am very excited and have been given the ability to quite my job.

Yervant has been a big inspiration to me, I have seen him speak 3 times. As far a the DVD's I have not seen them. I would say that some instructors are more artistic in communication while some are more technical. Of the two I would say Bussinck more technical and Yervant more artistic. You really can't go wrong either way.

I HAVE NEVER REGRETED BUYING ANY OF MY DVD'S EVEN THOUGH IT HURT AT THE TIME, AND i REVIEW THEM FREQUENTLY.

i guess the question of the op: whether or not its worth it, is answered.

it is worth it to invest in an education

Mitch, I am a bit confused the chap (or chapess) asked if someone wanted to sell a dvd they had ligitmatly bought and had watched for a resonable second hand price. I dont understand how that is breaching anyones copyright. If I sold someone a picture and they chose to sell it on to someone else , that shorly is their right. sorry if i missed something here.
cheers steve

Yes, I agree with you, I think Mitch missed the point entirely and may have assumed that stockriderman wanted to buy a illegal copy of the discs, instead of a used legitimate copy (read as : official copy as made by author of content).

So, Mitch : "Dude...wtf...simmer down".

Cheers,
Thomas

Huh? I don't get it. What seems to be the problem. People buy and sell their used DVDs all the time. I have some DVDs that I never watch,so I go on the forums and sell them. So,anyone who buys them,is stealing from the actors, production companies, etc?? Doesn't make sense.
Well,,maybe you guys in US have laws against selling used DVDs. It's perfectly legal here,in Canada

I have a dvd "Masters of Wedding Photography". Very inspiring. Not much technical stuff, aside from some behind the scenes footage, but just nice to see what gear those pros use and see their approach. I tend to disagree with some statements they make, but that's to be expected
