Very nice, wish the falls were more visible in #3.. lovely light on horsetail!
Thanks Floris! I agree about the falls, it would have been better to have more of the falls showing. The light was nice on Horsetail and there were many others there that night shooting as well.

Great work, Randy. Awesome shot of the Horsetail Falls, possibly the best one I've seen of this elusive subject that seems to be the ultimate merit badge for Yosemite photographers.
Thanks so much! After a previous night of disappointment, we finally had some special light and the water was flowing.

Thanks Seetharam! We all enjoyed marvelous light throughout the weekend in Yosemite. Unfortunately we all couldn't be at several places at the smae time, but look at the light you had at Tunnel View.

Wonderful shots Randy!
In particular, I find the mood in #3 most spectacular and of course the colors in #4 are awesome! I am happy you got such a nice light on saturday night!
I was very happy to meet you there too and certainly enjoyed the time with other FM_norcal people on friday.
Thanks Xavier! It was great meeting you as well. Glad you were able to recover the lens you thought you might have lost in the snow. Our dinner on Friday was delightful, glad we all got together.

Fabulous series, Randy. Your new home is obviously inspiring you! I just love the winter look of the first three. The first has a great mix of beautiful scenery with the cold snow. No 2 is stark and grimly beautiful, with the lone tree standing still against the elements with the great loom of the mountain behind and, as Barry has said already, the touch of green in the third just makes it. I love the fiery spectacle of the Horsetail Falls. Gorgeous series!

Fabulous series! I was there over the President Day weekend and it was warm and sunny for one day and cloudy and raining the next. I wish I went a week later and encounter the "wonderful" weather!
That Horsetail Fall image is spectacular! I can imaging how jam packed it was at the picnic area I think your capture is better than the one they are selling at the Ansel Adam's Gallery.
Thanks so much for the very rewarding complement! The weather made the big difference. I wish you would have had the opportunity the week later.

Hello Randy,
Good to hear from you. Glad you folks could get together is such an inspiring place. This is an excellent series. Thanks for sharing the adventure.

Hi Hugh and thanks! I generally shoot alone, but I'll admit it was very enjoyable having others around to enjoy the scenery and to photograph with.
Inspiration was definitely there!

I just got back in from Yosemite! What a great trip it was, and it was great to spend time with you and your wife. You helped to make an enjoyable trip even more enjoyable.
I like your shots here! Well done. The B&W is just incredible, well done there on that. Your shot of Lower YF is very unique, and please forgive me, if you see me with a shot like that this summer... That is really cool, great foreground, I don't think I have ever seen that perspective before, you did good on that one! Now Horsetails... that is great! I still haven't had time to start processing any of mine, but it is great to see yours, gives me hope that mine should look okay!
I was in the Ansel Adams Studio yesterday afternoon, and they were commenting on how well the light looked on Horsetail Saturday night. Saturday was the last day it lit up too, after that, we had snow in the evenings. Yesterday till another storm came in the afternoon, we woke up to clearing storm conditions, so it was a fabulous day of shooting!
But as to Horsetail, I was counting, and I believe it actually only lit up 4 days this time. I can't wait till next year to try again! And I found out the location for those other shots of Horsetail we had seen. So next year, I say we shoot from that location.
