Accepting that 2 plus 2 sometimes equals 5, it was interesting to note that the latest Canon DSLR promotion was for the 1D MkIIn AND the 5D.

5D MkII anybody as a low key announcement?

The 5D has only been out for a little over a year and has no direct competition.
Canon's reference to a "maturing DSLR market" in their press releases for the MK -III indicate that we should expect shelf life at least as long or longer than the 18 month period of the recent past.
The 30D hasn't been replaced yet, although it still could be. What makes anybody think there would be a 5D replacement before that happens ?
My guess would be the 5D will continue in it's current configuration until at least next PMA. And, what's wrong with that ? Good luck.
