Sounds about right - that's the price us lucky UK residents get to pay (best I've seen quoted so far is £2999 (but no stock)). Canon stiff us royally for certain things, but are competitive on others....there must be some logic somewhere I guess.

Both excellent points. Amazing that some people don't make the effort to find some of these things out on their own. Call B&H; ask them.
Someone mentioned a way to buy the Canon 1D Mark III for $4,049.99 with shop.com and ritzcamera.com. I never read it completely. I believe the person took the post down? Could someone explain the process to me. I am trying to purchase the camera right now and am hoping to get it at that price, if possible.
Maybe it was taken down because it wasn't correct. I have never heard of shop.com but ritzcamera is well known, and I suggest you check the price listed on their web site, which I suspect will be higher, and the supply "not yet available"
After you add it to your cart, during the checkout process, there is a box for coupons. In that box type 'get10back' and you'll get 10% off your purchase. It only works for your first order (unless you create multiple accounts of course).
