p.1 #1 · AB's and cold weather outdoor use?

Does anyone have any experience using the AB800 outside in sub freezing maybe even sub zero conditions? Is there anyhting I should be aware of or is it not suggested to use these lights under those conditions?

Yoiks! I'd call Alien Bees first to see what they say, but I don't think the bulbs, casing, or equipment can handle the extreme change from super cold to super hot all in a split second.

We haven't heard any negative issues with this. The components are rated to below zero. If you keep using them when they are in cold temps the heat of the electronics should keep them warm.

over the weekend, i shot in a barn around 5 deg C with a vagabond and AB800 with the modelling light on full. the system performed flawlessly.

Thanks for the input guys. Anymore real world expereience would be great. Especially with the Vagabonds.

Santa is bringing me an AB800 and I'm really interested in bringing it outdoors, particularly in the colder temps.
