Is the 30D, the EF-s zoom and new 85 all we are going to get? What happened to all the other rumors of the 40mm lens and best wishes for other lenses?

When will Canon put a real ISO mode (Av, and Tv fixed) into a camera?

I try not to be a gear geek, but I was expecting more. I can't believe the weak 30D response to the D200. I know the D200 is more expensive and has some issues, but I was expecting the 30D to be at least on par with it.

Oh don't forget the new Canon S3 IS and the 5 new powershots and 3 new IXUS cameras!

The 1D2 has ISO bracketing, if that's what you are referring to as ISO mode with Av and Tv fixed.

What he wants (and it's a great idea, IMO) is to let the photographer select Tv and Av, and then let the camera's metering select the required ISO.

If I'm not mistaken, its Photokina later this year (September?) so expect another batch of gear to be released then (i.e. 350D upgrade is about due then, and hopefully a few telephoto updates like a 400 f5.6 IS or ideally, a non-DO 400 f4 IS).

As for the D200, I don't see why Canon should have made an equivalent camera. For all we know, there could be another camera body on offer come September (I won't hold my breath though)

Monito- I don't know what's sadder; me starting the thread, or you responding to it. I just wanted to know if everything had been leaked.

It is an electronic forum, to paraphrase Bluto in Animal House, "Come on in and post something, don't cost nothin' "

Would I be too much to start a Photokina wish thread?

I think the 30D camera just begs a digital version of the EOS3 to bracket the D200. Weather seal, better AF, maybe even a crop of a crop sensor mode for higher FPS rate. With the 30D at $1300, the d200 at $1650(?) it leaves a gap at about $2000-$2200 to sandwhich the D200. Especially if the 1D models are going to merge and be something like $8000. Just a thought.

What is the technical name in Nikon-ese for the fixed Tv and Av with floating ISO?

I like my 20D and I've enjoyed it over the last year, but if I was starting off new again, the 200D would probably win, even with the higher price.

I think the real long term used combo purchase is the 20D and the new 17-55/2.8IS after Canon switches to FF sensors and people dump some EF-S gear.

I know Canon has a full line of cameras, but I only care about the the EOS line.

Instead of re-doing the 400/5.6, what do you think the price point would be on a 400-600/5.6L IS zoom would be. $2000-$2500? Might make a nice complement to a 100-400/L IS.

Was really hoping for a 70-200/4L IS, I could almost smell it.

A number of threads already deal with that exact question, for example: http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/357781 and http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/357354. It is best to aggregate threads instead of starting new ones so that information is not scattered across many threads.

Not going to happen. Canon is not going to "switch to FF sensors". They already have FF sensors and they are not going to drop the APS-C sized sensors. Canon is not going to dump EF-S before EF. Canon has made a huge investment in EF-S and it is paying off. And don't expect either to be dumped before another decade.
