p.1 #1 · Lens Help

Hello all,

I am in the process of buying a new Nikon D50 and am looking for some advice / help? I plan on buying the body with the 18 - 55 kit lens. I am also debating between buying the Nikon 70 - 300 for a upcoming Safari but cant decide between the G and the ED version? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Also, any feedback on the battery life of the 1400?

Thanks in advance to all.

Use the search function above and you will find many, many threads about the 70-300 lenses. Here are three that popped up when I entered 70-300 in the search window.

Just my opinion: don't buy the 18-55 and go for the following:
Nikkor 18-70 + 70-300 ED
or
Nikkor 18-70 + Sigma 70-300 APO Super
The standard battery typically gives you between 500 and 700 shots approximately. If you need all this for a Safari, I would definitely go for a spare battery (you could miss the shot of your life).

Hope this helps

Guy

I would go with what gugs say and also add the nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens...dirt cheap and good.
