p.1 #1 · Which lens?

Have a 20D, Tam 28-75, and the 50 f/1.8. Got $500 to spend on another lens.
Which one of these?

135 f/2.8
100 f/2.0
85 f/1.8

I'd even pick a wide angle since I don't have one.

Suggestions? Thx guy's.

What do you shoot the most? I was thinking of picking up a 85 1.8 for wedding/general portraits and the 135 or 200 later for auto sports shots.

Depends on what you shoot.

Get an ultrawide. Something like a Tokina 12-24 f4.

I shoot mostly portraits. And team photos for the hockey leagues. And a wedding occasionaly.

For portraits and team photos, I'd recommend the 85 f/1.8. The other focal lengths are just too long on a crop camera, IMHO.

But your mileage might vary. When you have your Tam at the 75mm end, do you feel that it's just a bit too short or that it's an awful lot too short? That might help you determine to correct focal length for the job. Also, from what I've read on here, the three lenses that you mention are said to be very good performers, so I guess it should be mostly a matter of focal length for you.

100/2 is a nice portrait lens if 85 is too close to your 50...
