Get the D1x and likely you can find a mint used one With the buffer upgrade (if you need a deeper buffer , many do not) for about 1000bux. If you like to have fun and do not need any advanced settings then get a D100 or D70. If you need more oprtions, more freedom in your work and more settings to play with, then get a used D1X. I have bout almost 15 different used cameras from people on here and they have all been mint and worked like a charm. I even bought a camera last year that had 78,000 clicks on it and looked brand new and lasted me another 119,000 clicks until I decided to sell it and get something else. The last I heard the guy I sold it too has taken another 50,000 clicks on it and it still works. So dont be affraid to buy used. Especially from someone here. Feb 20, 2006 at 05:19 AM

DragonflyDM Offline Dedicated FM Upload & Sell: On p.1 #9 · d100 compared to d1x I have, like Mcfadden, owned just about every Nikon DSLR out there. I have even owned some of the camera bodies McFadden has owned. There is not doubt that you get a richer fuller picture with a D1X. It won't have more MP than a D70 but the chip technology is different and how it handles light, and color are just hands down better images. Ergonomically, they have their quirks. The D70 is a small camera with a small viewfinder (not as bad as the D70) and the D1X has, in my opinion, outdated historgram graphics. The battery issue with the D1X is old hat, because most aftermarket people have changed to 2400NiMH batteries and fixed it. But the biggest reason to buy a D1X is that it will last forever, relative to the D70 or D100. (Of course the D100 will last forever compared to the D70). It is just a sturdy professional camera....like a volvo solid and dependable. Feb 22, 2006 at 11:43 AM

dreams Offline Upload & Sell: Off p.1 #10 · d100 compared to d1x I own D1x. Never complain about battery. Most time, I got approx 300 pictures per battery. Unless you always play with menu or depend on review picture on LCD then battery will be short life. Think of old day we used to live with film camera which we never see any review LCD.
