I know this really isn't the proper place for this, but I do know that a lot of my fellow photographers here on FM who have a Nikon D-50, D-70, D-70S and D-100 cameras might appreciate this so please bear with me.
When I logged on tonite to my Nikon Capture software, I found an update waiting for me in regards to a battery recall. I have 2 of the batteries mentioned. If you happen to be shoting a NIKON D series camera, please go to this link and check it out... it may save you a BIG problem in the near future. http://support.nikontech.com/cgi-bin/nikonusa.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=13741
Tazo, I had a turn around of 1 week! I used the website to register, got a shipping label via UPS and a week later I had a EN-EL3e. I'm on the east coast if that matters. Sorry you're having a bad experience.
I used Nikon's recall website, I gave them my credit card information so they would ship out a new battery. My friend right here in town did the same thing, and got his within a week! A WEEK! I think Nikon has my name and is being mean
My total turnaround time for the entire process (from the day I sent my old EL3, then having the new EL3a in my hand) took a week exactly. I live in NY, so that helped.
