p.1 #1 · Digital People Portraits

Very frustrating not to be able to view more people portraits on here. I posted before on this matter and only received two responses from members on this forum. One response was from candid shots and other involved a little more posing. I enjoy outdoor portraits and find very little info regarding digital outdoor portraits when it comes to digital. Would I be out of line to suggest there be a topic on people photos? Perhaps those which require a set pose and outside reflector or flash fill? Using anyone for the subject matter also. An older or young couple, a child, a senior, or neighbor just for a good all round shot? More challenging than super models if you know what I mean.Surfed many sights and just can't find anything using digital slr cameras and good quality pics. Well guys and gals? Somebody shoot some pics of people please and show the world.

Ok, I post a few. I'm not sure how many folks on this site are into people pictures. Seems more nature and landscape. The people pictures I have seen posted have been outstanding.

Keep posting the shots you enjoy doing. Ask questions of the members, or post in the critique forum and get advise. As more and more of your work gets shown and how you are responding, people will start to reply more often.

Hang in there!

Well JM, I seem to have a small problem posting right now. I just sold my canon G3 and am in the process of purchasing a digital slr. Honestly I'm leaning toward the S2. My buddy down the street has a portrait studio and has one. Like I've said the studio shots inside have been awesome. But he has not taken but a few outside. I've gotten on his behind and told him I want to see some outside pics with fill flash and reflectors..HA...He should have me something in a week or two. He's not new to photography also. He was just awarded PPA photographer of the year 2002.He has several hassy's, rz67's and more equipment than B&H. And knows how to use it too. But only been in digital for about a year. I'm not buyin anythang until I see some results from this camera or others and am satisfied it will do what I want for my particular needs. Thanx.

John,

Here is a candid portrait I shot a couple of years ago with my D1.

Hi John,

I agree there's not a lot of people portraits here, but that's just the mix. Also you won't always get a response for a variety of reasons. I'll see an image that I really like, but won't respond because I figure it's just babble and who needs more babble. Just keep posting.

Here's my all time favorite people portrait probably because it's my son. I'm not going to guess at all the technical flaws except for the cheap scan of a 35mm negative I did back before my DSLR. I just love it because it conveys what kind of kid he is

Again, keep shooting, keep posting and have a great day. Maybe you can start something here or under "People, Street......."

Have a great day!

And, outside with reflector. A test shot for a local photo class I took. I like it because the light is unusual.
