I have no interest in the 5D by itself, but what Canon has done with a high resolution full-frame sensor and noise levels at high ISO makes me believe that the new 1-series body would finally be my dream camera. That's when I'll probably retire my old 1D.

Right now I would be very satisfied with 5D's sensor in a 1D body

Well, I neglected to mention that I would also like lower price, larger buffer and higher fps rate

Also, I think 5d handles high iso better - no?

Yeah, but the difference isn't ground breaking, the 1Ds is still quite good.
