p.1 #1 · D2X price reduction?

Now that Canon has put out some new gear is there any chance that the D2X will come down in price? I will need it to happen if I am going to jump ship.

Cheers

I believe the D2X has come down in price in japan by a couple of hundred dollars so maybe that will translate world wide, but i wouldn't imagine a huge reduction when it comes to the D2x!!

It has dropped about $300 in Japan over the summer. you can get it for around $3800 since the yen has also dropped. It is 429,000 yen at the cheaper/respectable places.

Hi:

I think it is already starting to happen. Some folks have reduced the price considerably. I saw this one recently priced at $4,300.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7538000991&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

They get good rating at http://www.resellerratings.com/ if you do a search there. I've not dealt with them myself. I read someone else say that it is the full factory warranty. Not imported. But I would check prior to purchase.

Cheers,
Craig Ryder

Unfortunately, there's still a big order backlog and waiting lists for the camera here in Canada. Nikon won't likely drop the price too much if they can't keep up with the demand at the current price.

I've always been skeptical of them. Their prices always seem too good to be true.

In Japan you can get it at Sanpou Camera for 428,000.

www.sanpou.co.jp

It is a very reputable store, my friends (old Japanese guys) order from there all the time.

Go to Yodobashi and tell them Sanpou has it for this price and they might match it.

3099 GBP (that includes 17.5 % VAT)
http://www.parkcameras.com

Remember UNLIKE the US UK prices INCLUDE 17.5% VAT (which you can reclaim in quite a lot of circumstances -- business use, export etc etc.) so be careful when comparing UK and US prices now. There's nothing like the difference there used to be especially if you get the VAT back.

Removing the VAT that's 2556 GBP ( USD 4549) approx same as in the US. 1GBP = 1.784 USD (approx).

The Cheapest places if you can source them are in the Channel Islands - 0% Tax (Jersey / Guernsey) but they don't always stock this type of gear.
Cheers

On something this exensive, I prefer to have a warranty, so for me that meant buying from a Canadian dealer.

For those who might be interested, B&H had two used D2X's in "10" condition (which often means refurb) at $3999 each this morning:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?ci=2870&sb=ps&pn=1&sq=desc&InitialSearch=yes&O=SearchBar&A=search&Q=*&bhs=t&shs=nikon+d2x&image.x=5&image.y=5

(you may have to copy and paste the entire string into your seach window; it seems to be too long to display properly here)

Why buy refurbished units? The warranty is not transferable.
