I hope, this is true. This lens is what I'm missing most for travelling and hiking and I think it's a very usefull focal length even with a 1.6 crop body.
Hmm.. could be intersting. If it's as sharp as the 2.8 24-70 @4, that would be sweet. I don't know if it would save any weight from the 2.8. Hopefully 3 stop IS...
Because the CPS site is down I reckon they've realised someone stuffed up big time by releasing the details early...they're frantically trying to remove the offending items!

That's a very interesting lens on either a FF or a 1.6 body. However, I am beginning to get a little ticked that Canon choses to replace / upgrade / enhance everything I buy within four months. If you really want to know what is going to change in their line-up, just watch for new additions to my equipment and you will know that something new is about to replace it.

just phoned up canon, on hearing me ask them about 5D, 1DMK2N and 430EX, the first question i was asked, where did i see this information. I obviously told them issue 14 of CPS. Her reply-no comment. wouldn't say another word.
i am excited about this since i was in the market for a flash and a new body[next couple of weeks]. So this means that 20D is gonna come down i price and whatever the competing flash for the 430EX is would also come down in price. Hence i might be able to afford a used one of each, so if ur selling contact me. [details below]
