www.digitalkamera.de site was famous for breaking NDA on new cameras and banned on DPreview. I think everybody at the moment references PDF specs and pictures.

Probably the same credibility that came from that same posting ( I just pasted it in the forum for users to check out) in differents threads in this same forum. Plus the one from Romania. But the info coming from Bob Adkins is pretty reliable even if still speculation.
you know how easy it is to create a pdf and distribute? all it takes is one very bored individual with adobe illustrator or photoshop or any number of other programs.

Probably, but for that bored individual to actually put down the name of Jim Bowes on that PDF so that when someone searched it he found that this Jim guy works for dutch company cayenne who actually do Canon brochures for their advertising campaigns...that would take something special.
I wont absolutely believe this until it is official, thats the whole point of making things official, but I dont see why some people are so intent on insisting its a false rumour, they dont know that just as no one here knows the opposite for sure either.
This has been going around for a few days, and I really think it's a fake.
First of all, the "brochure" is all in spanish, except the tech specs, which are in English.
Then look at the pentaprism hump. From the front, it looks like a 1-series camera, but from the back, it looks like a 20d, including legs for a pop-up flash.
Elaborate, yes, but it's a hoax...
Also, think about it. What hole does this fill? If canon were going to bring another full-frame chip to market, wouldn't they want to put it in the 1d and have that at 8fps?
If anything, at this price point ($4k or so, according to the .pdf) and this resolution, it would cannibalize sales for 1ds, the flagship of the line...
Just doesn't make sense.

Yeah but it's not that easy to render an entirely new camera body that isn't based on anything out there...

Personally I think its likely its true, but I also think people convinced either way could be wrong, so how do you account for the author's name found in the metadata of the document being someone who works for a company that makes canon brochures?

That actually makes me to think it's true.
Think about it: if you want to start a hoax, you want it to spread out as much as possible. Then why write it in spanish instead of english?
Just like viruses makers: they target microsoft software because that's what most people use.
Illustrators can very quickly draw an entirely new camera from scratch. The supposed 5D is based on elements that are extractible from other Canon cameras, like the logo, the buttons, bits and pieces here and there. Adjust a few curved lines and areas, and voila, a 2D, 3D, 5D, 7D, 3456D, you name it.
On the other hand, some of the supposed flaws can easily creep into preliminary info that is meant to be embargoed and is not meant to be published. Such flaws include things like strap lugs that have been inadvertently whited out from one angle but not another when removing backgrounds.
So, the jury is still out, but it looks like all the rumors are either vague ones from a friend of a friend of sales rep or they are all based on the Romanian site PDF.

Are't there more Spanish speakers than English speakers in the world though?
I would figure that if you wanted to lend a hoax some credibility, you would publish it in multiple languages, like Canon often does.

Arka C.
That's a good point, but the main internet language is still english by far.
And if I were to build a hoax, I would not write part of it in one language and another part in another language.
To me it looks more like an early version or even a dummy. It's common practice to put older pictures as placeholders and neither uncommon are mixed languages in the documents while waiting for all the translations. Usually various PR and advertising agencies in several different countries are involved along with several executives from the manufacturer both internationally and locally. Well over 30 people can be directly involved with something as simple as the press release. Plenty of opportunities for those who dare leak.
Don't know anything about the "5D" but I do know that around lunchtime on Aug 22th I will know. Hoax or not, the embargo date is at least correct.
If it's a hoax it's a good one, and we should fall for it out of respect for the hoaxster. The more interesting camera to spoof a PR announcement would be the future merged 1D model.
The 5D only breaks new ground in the combination of features. The future merged 1D will need to a huge amount of processing power. THAT will be interesting to see how Canon pulls it off. It will take a new processor (Digic 3?).
The 5D is made with stuff Canon has already produced, except the small form factor full frame.

What's kind if interesting is that the "official" leak of a new camera months ago was out of Canon-Spain. The Spain rep said that a new camera would be introduced in October that would be between the 20D and 1D series in both price and capabilities. Is this possibly a leak from the same source? Is that an explanation of why the non-technical text is in Spanish?

It fills a big hole when Canon announces the EOS-2d (22 megapixel)
