Hi everyone,
I am a frequent reader but a first time poster of the forum. After reading many favorable comments regarding on, I have chosen EOS 20D [with a 50mm f1.8 lens] as my first DSLR, and bought it from Amazon.com in February’05. I should admit that during this six months I have taken +10000 frames many of which were great shots. I actually encountered no problem until the 3rd month; everything was perfect. Then, after nearly 4000 frames in 3 months, my camera captured a few successive bad (corrupted) frames and immediately got back to normal. After a relatively long period of time (~1 month) the situation was recurred but longer this time: 10-15 frames or 5-10 minutes. In the following weeks, the period of recurrence shortened gradually while the number of corrupted frames (or the period of time in which the camera doesn’t work properly) increases. Now I shot nearly +1000 frames in 1-2 weeks and once the problem recurred it may take 5-6 days my 20D to get back to normal! In this 5-6 days it captures +1000 corrupted frames. This is a really annoying experience for me since I can’t know when it recurs.
The corrupted photos share a number of characteristics as I can see: The files are almost 2 times larger in size than an ordinary shot (a ~14MB RAW instead of ~8MB). The frame isn’t completely black; it either displays a certain dominant pattern on an ugly/awful image or the successive stripes with random spots on it. I have attached 3 screenshots which include samples with different resolutions and magnification levels.
My preferred format is RAW but I have used others as well...
I have formatted my CF (1 GB Sandisk Ultra II) again and again. Also tried a 256MB Kingston CF of a friend of mine: no avail.
The firmware of the camera was 1.0.5 and I have updated it to 2.0.0 a few months ago.
The Canon’s distributor in my country doesn’t accept the warranties of the cameras bought overseas, so the warranty of my camera is invalid here. I will try to arrange someone (if needed) to take my camera to Canon’s repair facilities in US and back it to me after repair. (I remember rave reviews on Irvine service center of Canon. Do you recommend Canon Irvine? How can I contact them -preferably via email- and how can I manage to repair my camera under warranty conditions?)
Thanks in advance. I will appreciate your help very much.

This seems somewhat similar to my situation, where the culprit was actually the card. I know that you mentioned you used 2 different cards, but this was my experience.
Not to make light of your situation, but I think the images you have posted are pretty cool as a whole...even with the windows box around them. I know that wasnt your intention of the post, so I hope everything works out with your camera.
Looks like your camera needs repair, but to be sure, switch to more than
the cards you've used, also, try different software apps, because I've
had some programs mistake an embedded JPEG for the real image,
even when not using a RAW+jpg mode, as there's still a preview image
on your card. The results looked a lot like what you're showing here.
So, check alternate software, download Rawshooters Essentials if you
don't have it and don't have something like Pshop or Capture One.
