what an assbeater of a first event! super challenging but also a lot of fun. a golf cart would have been nice! I was shooting with pretty much all new stuff and that combined with the long winter of not shooting much left me feeling pretty rusty.
I'm especially interested in getting some feedback and seeing stuff from some of the other guys who were there. Sebring is huge and I know I didn't see nearly enough of it during the weekend. thanks for your comments. jamie.
Here are a few from the various practice sessions as I have yet to get through my race photos. I'll post a few of those once they are online. Till then though, enjoy these and I look forward to seeing what others came up with.
Shitty background here, but a cool capture, this could really benefit from some cropping, but I just batched it at the time to get it posted. But to do anything serious I would definately crop it in tighter to accentuate the lifted wheels and get as much of the background out of it.
Here are a few from raceday. If you guys have any comments they are always appreciated.
Dont know where some of the others were taken, mine were with creds, but Sebring is not too bad of a track to shoot from as a spectator. The only thing you have to do as a spectator is to get up over the guardrails a bit, so something to stand on is always an advantage.
Of course there are shots that you would not have any chance of getting without creds. Several of my posted images are that way, but there is still a lot available to the general public.
If you are talking about in my second post, then three was taken drivers left of turn 16 and six was taken on drivers left of 17 shooting back under the drive-over bridge.
Drivers left of 16 is basically impossible to shoot unless you have a golf cart, you have to enter down around 17 and drive up drivers left of front straight. Its a long way out there. Even with the cart, we would see the Audis pass us twice while making our way out there.
ok... I figured as much. I recall dude saying that the shuttle wouldn't head out there, so I pretty much gave up that idea right then and there. maybe next year I'll score a cart. thanks for posting
Sweet photos. I've been waiting to see some great pics from Sebring. Love the R8 at night with it lighting up that way. The two Corvettes and the Aston Martin behind - great DOF. Knowing me, one of the three cars would be razor sharp and the other two OOF.
Having said that, I'd love to get a media pass for the ALMS at Mosport later this year but know that they have their own seasoned photographers and I'm just starting out....

Jim, awesome pics. I second the motion on the fantastic sunset shot. I also like the Aston's
behind the Corvette's. To bad they did not stay there!!
As for getting credentials, if you can ever make it to Road America you can shoot right beside the pros if you pay for the 4 day photo pass. I believe it is $300, or $350. Plus you have to show you have pro level equipment, and have something to show them, so they can see you know what the heck you are doing.
STP - Great lighting and framing on the 911. Like others I wish it were a tad sharper. Nice composition on the BW 325 with Sebring behind.
Jimmy - I hope you don't mind if I drill you on a few of these...
First post:
#2 - Maser sillouette - fantastic shot. How did you expose for this? Would you mind sharing some of the details?
Second post:
#1 - Sunset - gorgeous. Probably the best sunset shot I've seen in this year's photos. I tried some of these myself but without much luck. Exposure is tough. Care to share?
Great stuff as always. Your work always appeals to me more than most. Keep it up!
I'll post some of my own stuff in the next day or two.
