It hurts to admit it, but yesterday at a wedding shoot, I forgot I had an external battery pack connected to a 550EX on my 1dm2 and I pulled the camera off a 4 foot counter on to a cement floor. Dumbest thing I have ever done!!!
The camera and flash survived - flash untouched, camera with a body scuff or two but the lens broke off from the mount leaving the mount and some plastic on the camera and the glass section rolling on the floor.
None of the glass appears to have been damaged but the lens is in two parts with some 4 flat wire sections loose. I think it may focus manually as I can put the parts together even though they don't stay together. Zoom still works.
Assuming I haven't harmed the glass, does anyone have any idea of the cost for repair at the Irvine CA center?
