p.1 #1 · Finally! A 40mm AF pancake for Nikon (and a lightweight 100 f/2)
First the good news... a 40mm AF pancake, and a light affordable 100mm f/2!
The bad news, it's from Yongnuo, lol Well they tried to go "Sigma Art" BUT instead of a dock, they decided to put a USB port in the front. Yea, kinda tacky..but knowing Yongnuo, these lenses will probably just cost 20 dollars each!

The 100mm f/2 is a Canon EF 100mm f/2
However, it doesn't have the Canon USM motor, so it will be loud.
If you know the Yongnuo 35mm f/2 and 50mm f/1.8, you know that they build quite okay lenses at extremely low prices.
If you're on a budget (for example after buying a 150 USD D200, D90, etc.) you can get these lenses at a great price.
The 35mm f/2 tested very favorably against the Canon original. The 50mm (I owned three copies) was like the the mk II of the Canon 50/1.8, but with extreme copy-to-copy variance.. so one copy was very bad and the other two that I owned were okay. Still have one left and it produces great portraits stopped down.

I'm actually really excited for the 40mm prime with auto-focus, because I seem to shoot there more than 35mm or 50mm. It seems to be the perfect balance for environmental portraits.
Would've loved the 100mm about 8 years ago but I've got the 105mm 2.5Ai-S, 105mm F2 DC, and the 85mm 1.4G so that area is really crowded, it may be so cost effective that I buy it anyway though.
Hopefully it gets Nikon to make a 40mm 1.8G or 2G or something similar.

I bought the 40mm and just got it today.
Oddly, they have a little clear sticker, similar to what you have on a phone as protection, on both the front and rear element.
Haven't really shot anything, just enough to make it wasn't horribly defective and auto focus works. Little bit of a louder motor, like a faintly buzzing bee or whatnot.

General thoughts so far.
Looks : its cute, lens is really recessed, other lenses I shoot with I can pick the camera up by but obviously with this one I've gotta lift the camera up again.
Auto-Focus : In continuous mode the AF is fiddly...for the things I shoot with it I have the time to wait so it won't be an issue for me.
Flare : The element is really recessed in there and it was tolerable during the day but the night shot it got really rough flare as indicated in the last picture.
Processing: I have contrast set in camera to as low as possible. Sharpening is set a notch or two lower from middle/standard as well. I use NX2 to process and then do minor adjustments ( curves , contrast, sizing, sharpening ) in photoshop. NX2 reads the lens as 40mm 2.8G
