p.1 #1 · Survey About Online Photography Services and Platforms
Dear forum members,
I approach you as a fellow photography enthusiast with a small request.
I am currently undertaking my final project as part of my MBA, focusing on online platforms for photography services. I would like to ask for 2 minutes of your time to fill out a short survey on your views and opinions on such platforms. Your kind help will be much appreciated. To fill out the survey please click here.

Dvir,
Would like to help, but there is a skepticism about going to the link (in today's cyber-world) ... I'm sure you can understand. I've asked Fred to check into it ... if legit, I'll lend a hand.

Hi Rusty, a123,
I do hope I'm legit as it gets...
I have been an amateur photographer for the past 14 years or so, and a lot of my early work was posted right here on FM forums. Now that I'm completing my MBA, it only seemed natural to close the loop and ask for input form the fine photographers around these forums.

Thanks Ben
No probs, I understand. The survey is indeed geared more towards pros and semi-pros although we would love to also hear from amateurs and aspiring pros.

I looked, but as a complete ameature, the questions seemed unrelated to what I do. You don't even have landscape as one of the options.
Ben is pulling your leg. When it comes to landscape, he's as close to "pro" as you can get.
So when you use the labels pro and semi pro, I assume you are seeking people for your study who make their livelihood from photography?

Ok, I filled it out and submitted but most of the categories were no response because they were aimed at selling stuff which I don't do.

For which type of promotion drives the most business, mine would be trade shows, gallery shows, and in person viewings. There is no option for it.
Also, landscape is not an option, which is what I do...full time although I'm sure plenty will try to argue that it can't work hahaha
Point taken. You're correct that landscape was not included as an option, we'll definitely take that in account.
To follow-up on your point - do you use any online platform such as a website in addition to trade shows and gallery shows?

Squarespace and Shopify. Shopify is my sales platform, Squarespace is used as a hub. Shopify has more sales and tracking tool options in regards to e-commerce.

I looked at the survey and had the same issues Ben expressed. I am not interested in a career as a professional photographer. I have a webpage, business card and have applied to many juried shows and galleries. I am interested in the art of photography and showing my work but I do not aspire to be a professional photographer. I do not shoot headshots, or weddings or other events. Mainly I shoot landscapes, nature, abstracts and macro botanicals. Since hardly any of your questions applied, I did not complete the survey.

Sorry, if I came across poorly ... my bad.
Actually, I recall doing some similar polling (internal @ FM Pro Forum) while working on my business studies some years back as well. I (and other FM'ers) got "torched" by an external link a while back, so my "once bitten, twice shy" knee-jerk blinded me to your longstanding membership. That combined with the request in the Photo Critique forum skewed my head a bit. Again, apologies.
Good luck with your studies.
And yes, I responded to the survey.
BTW, I think you'll get more of what you're looking for over in the Pro Digital Corner Forum as that group (which is where I polled) is a bit more business oriented.

That's OK Rusty, no worries
Thanks for answering the survey
