beg your pardon if this isn't the correct section for posting, but:
which is the best toll to sharpen images (including fm intellisharpen, of course)?
and how to use it the correct way?
There are many opinions and it could take an entire fourm dedicated to this question. I use intellisharpen and like it very much. I have not had it that long but it seems to do things better than I can do on my own. The PC side of the world has more options for sharpening. Lucky for me, I use the Macintosh so I have fewer options to try out. So short answer, for me you could some excellent sharpening with Intellisharpen.
I would like to add a question to this thread to add even more room for discussion and that question is:
If you use FM intellisharpen it is advisible to also buy the 1D MkII plug in. I shoot with the 1DmkII.
thanks
I generally do sharpening in CS with the unsharp mask, and careful selection of what I want sharpened. I see you shoot with a 300D, and my experience with images from that camera is that they don't need a lot of sharpening (IMO).
Here are a few tricks that you can try using Photoshop...
Technique A:
1-Open your image
2-Convert it to LAB
3-Select the Lightness channel
4-Apply an USM with the following settings for starters... 100% 1.3 0
5-Convert image back to RGB
Technique B:
1-Open you image
2-Create a copy of your base layer
3-Use the High Pass Filter at a setting of about 2.0 for starters.
4-Change this layer to an Overlay
5-Flatten layers
There are lots of different ways to do sharpening without the purchase of expensive filters. Tinker with the above techniques a bit and see what you can acomplish.
well: i asked this question 'cause i actually use photoshop cs for sharpening, and was wondering if there was something else better to do the thing.
think i'm gonna use photoshop again and follow the instructions of thomas; or rather try intellisharpen and see what does it happen.
I have the same question as Jim, "I would like to add a question to this thread to add even more room for discussion and that question is:

Does anyone have any suggestion? I also find the PS to be a great way to sharp your image.

By all means buy the 1Dmk2CSPro...it is the absolute best sharpener for mk2 shots ever...
I use PKsharpener which is a three stage sharpener. It makes a lot of sense after you use it to sharpen in stages, and specifically for the output device. There are many options to choose at each stage, and I feel that this really helps to processes each image optimally.
