Uhhhh-huh.

I suppose the knee pads are since human kneecaps haven't evolved strong enough to support that kind of weight when kneeling?

What was he shooting to require that kind of instant readiness?

Well, that's one way to keep your sensors clean. Just mount a body to each lens so you never have to remove them
