I have been having great success with the D610, but was noticing that occasionally I get OOF images when shooting subjects on the left side.
Thought I would test it out, and I found that the left AF points do not focus properly. This is true for both of the lenses I have on hand: a 50mm f/1.8G and a 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G.
The left images are using the left AF points, and the images on the right are using the right AF points.
(sorry they are so big - I am trying to figure out how to make them display smaller...)
Yes, what I am afraid of is the old: "Impact damage and thus your warranty is void" response from Nikon.
**what I am really interested in is for others to see if they have the same issue when shooting wide open and at close range. It is less obvious the further away the subject is.
Were these tripod mounted with a shutter release? To me, they look a little like shake. I did test out a 35 1.4 today and noticed it had difficulty focusing sharply on a pretty contrasty target. I'll have to check the AF point.

Did you drink that bottle of wine before testing?
Alcohol is a depressant. It should have made his hands less sensitive to shaking, as opposed to coffee which would exacerbate any shaking. Of course, a hangover is great at causing the shakes.

same problem with my d800e....nikon could not fix it without affecting the center focus. i gave up, had them do their standard calibration (nikon singapore) then lived with it. i do not use the left focus points to focus. center is dead on. i found its no big deal.
Yes, I know this is an issue with the D800 series cameras. But I didn't expect it on the D610?!?
I want to find out if it is worth replacing this body or if many of these cameras have this issue...
I would post this on luminous-landscape or dpreview to see if others have this issue, but I have closed my accounts on both of those sites...
This seems borderline mild to me, but I did live through the D800 issue and had to swap out a body. I'm sure that's not what you want to hear and you'll have to make up your own mind as to how much this bothers you.
Let me ask this: did you AF fine tune? One interesting thing I like about the 'dot tune' method is that it has you figure out the range and then directs you to select something in the middle of that range. You should give that a try and see if things become more acceptable across the range. Also try this new target that Horshack made:
no dirty sensor, lcd tint or AF issues here for me...happy 610 owner...I didn't go looking for these issues either nor will be attempting to....only 'issue' that I experienced is random/intermittent hourglass during image review on lcd
