Description***********************
Unfortunately I've got to let go of this lens as it's just not getting as much use as I thought it would with the array of other lenses I own I find myself using the 70-200G much more. In any case, I've decided to let it go and take the hit as I paid $2011 shipped from Adorama in October 2012... so you're looking at an 8 month old, babied, always UV-protected, never dropped/scratched/dinged lens. I've always kept it in my Pelican hard case when not in use.
Rest assured this is a spectacular lens for the range and I made no micro adjustments on my A77 that it was paired with.
There's a little pesky dust stuck in the rubber focus/zoom rings externally which you'll no doubt see in the pictures. This happens unfortunately.
What you get*********************
Original box, packaging, lens pouch, front/rear end cap, lens, and original scratch free hood.
How is the image quality from this Sony Zeiss lens on the A77 compared to say a Zeiss 35mm ZE (say you shot both at lenses at 35mm at f/3.5. I LOVE my zeiss glass on my canon and I'm very curious to try out a Sony setup. Is you A77 also for sale?
If you could post a few of your best images from this lens that would be great! Would like to see the colors, sharpness and contrast.
I'd be happy to provide some shots and info. First regarding selling the A77, I think I'm going to be hanging on to it. I really want it as WELL as an A99 (or the future A99 when it comes out) for flexibility. Also I'll be honest, I also kind of got scrooged by ordering one from China on eBay and it's a European version so I only have PAL video so HDMI out does not work here in the US which the lister made no mention of so I wouldn't want to sell you something that only kinda works here.
I own a 5d MK II with Zeiss 18mm/3.5 and Zeiss 50mm/1.4 so I've got a bit of reference myself. I have absolutely zero complaints with the quality of this lens--all Zeiss glass I've used has been spectacular in its own way.
Here are some landscapes from my vacation to California A77/CZ24-70:
I also happen to have something which I'm sure you'll want to see which are un-touched photos straight from RAW / Lightroom shown @ 24mm, 35mm, 55mm, and 70mm with the same (or pretty close to) framing.
I have the full resolution pictures uploaded and they're added in the gallery linked in the first post. Be sure to click "O" on the top for the full resolution to see the detail, all taken @ f/2.8 for bokeh comparison: http://clients.zacharyemerick.biz/Electronics/Cameras/CZ2470
Please do not hesitate to ask any other questions--if you're interested in knowing the shots I took of the 24-70 were taken by my "lowly" Minolta 50mm/1.7+A77 haha -- well worth the $99 I paid.
Those cactus pictures--if the blacks were lowered slightly and the contrast upped ever so slightly you're looking at perfect exposure in my opinion. That's all I would do at least personally--everyone has different tastes.
Hrmm can't seem to edit so I'll just add this here:
Some other notes... focusing is fast, accurate, quiet, and the build quality is glorious. If you haven't tried Sony's SLT setup, the A77/24-70 or A99/24-70 combo is a great one to begin with. Initially when I was looking to try Sony out I wanted the A99 but it wasn't released yet and I wasn't sure about jumping into a new brand with a $2800 camera so I oprted for the A77 @ ~1100. Now that I've used it for 8 months I wish I just waited a month and got the A99 because I love it THAT much. Supposedly 2014 will bring some new full frame SLT's so I am going to wait and see what comes out.
I'm now at the point where I'm considering selling my Canon gear for all Sony, and I've been a Canon guy for years.
One final note... every photographer or friend who hasn't experienced the "machine gun mode" of the A77 @ 12FPS giggles when I show them or let them shoot with it.
