Correct about the conversion of her clothes. It was bright red, and I can't convert bright red from my slides- to B&W- without that happening. And I don't know what to do about it.
Yes, even the pedestrians were smiling at us.
25 years ago the Chinese were just realizing that most foreign visitors were just there to have a good time. And were friendly. I had no problems with them at all. Their infrastructure, however, was still early 20th century.
Plus- the people were VERY proud of their "one child per married couple."
