I have a mate who has seen the NDA signed by his work place. If you would like to start placing bets on 8 mp 20d you are going to be laughing all the way to the bank.
It was always an obvious step up really .
My combo of EOS-D2000 and MZ-4 has been so satisfactory, it'll take a 5MP+, 5fps+, 3sec-buffer+ camera with a hell of a Canon flash to get me to switch. The camera is getting some really good pics, and its still way ahead of me. The ability for it to **correctly** focus with a 20mm 1.8 on in stone-darkness with no flash and get good pics is just wow in my book.
To Canon, I'll say it again: My D2000 seamlessly switches between card 1 and card 2, which assumes it has two slots...why not put two (CF's) on current cams?
I was offloading images from a 1G card (holds 448 pics) onto a laptop, and a horse acted up, and I still had my cruddy old 64Mb card in, but, I got the shot (the horse-rearing one I've posted here before).
Gotta have two slots, plus the SD if they want to use that for 11.b.
Here's a another rumour? of the D20, with a picture of the new cam......
If that picture is even a little bit accurate, it looks like it has a built in hand grip and no pop-up flash!!!! oooooo I'd REALLY like that It just seems weird that, if it's true, Canon wrote that it's a "professional camera" on it....if somebody is looking at purchasing that, they could probably figure that out for themselves - - - though I guess it's really for "semi-pros" because the true professional cameras are the "1 Series." I'm SOOOO EXCITED to see what the final product looks like Hopefully it won't be more than about $2,500

I've heard this a few times. Where do you see that it's discontinued? Seems to be in stock in all places, and not 'archived' on Canon's site, although it is heavily discounted.

The canon rep flat out told our shop not to order any more 10D bodies because a new camera will be shippint soon. If that's not a sign of a discontinued body, I don't know what is.
Looks fake to me. A modified D2000 is a likelier explanation.
Personally, I hope Canon starts to innovate a little more in the body design department. Am I the only person who thinks the 1-series EOS is too large? Why not make hand grips optional, so people who [1]don't want them can remove the damn things if needed?
I seriously doubt the 20D will have a 'pro' body spec (pro meaning 'looks like a 1-series.') I am thinking it'll look like the 10D does now, and that would hardly be a bad thing. I think the 10D is a great body, and for the price, it's features and robustness are superb.
I also believe it will look very much like the 10D. In fact, I'll go as far as to say it will use the same body with changes to the control wheel only.

If I may inquire as to what you mean by "our shop"... are you talking about one of our local stores here in town. I was led to believe that my favorite store was getting the 10D all the time...
I can confirm for you that the 20d is a fact. Its hard to say a lot without getting people into trouble with NDA's etc but the rumored specs are true. ..John
hi everybody. time for a silly question but i guess i gotta find out the answer from sombody who knows it!!!
what does NDA stand for and what is it? just to show you that i do care i'll give you my best guess . "New Development Agency." Haha i have no idea...so if some one could tell me that'd be great!
NDA=Non-Disclosure Agreement. It essentially binds everyone who is allowed to see the camera before any official announcements are made to silence. That is, they are not allowed to talk about the camera to anyone until Canon makes the specs public. They are (or at least should be) powerful muzzles on people in the know, but some shooters just can't keep a secret. It might get them in legal trouble at worst, and they probably will lose pre-viewing privileges from Canon for future cameras at the very least.
I figured it out! Maybe the new 20D or whatever it is, is a dumbed-down version of the MKII. Like those that say the Rebel is a dumbed-down version of the 10D.
