p.1 #1 · Geared Head w/ Arca Swiss Plate Solution???

So, I'm looking for a geared head exactly like the Manfrotto 410 but with an Arca Swiss style plate so I can use a RRS L Plate. Any suggestions? My research isn't showing anything.

thanx in advance,

Joe

I think all you need to do is replace the QR plate with a QR plate with an ARCA QR mechanism. That's what I did (a long time ago)

If you're interested PM me and I can send you some images this weekend. I don't use that head much, it's attached to my heavy duty tripod.

So, I ended up getting the Manfrotto 410. It seems awesome. But how do you folks level it when you flip the camera to portrait mode?

For that setup with the 410 series gear heads, I use a different approach.

1) Add a AS QR to the Manfroto QR plate.
2) Use an RRS AS "L" bracket on my camera body to let you flip the body for portrait shots.

That also leaves my camera body ready for use on other heads as well. The "extra part" tightens tightly to the gear head with no wiggle or sag.

And you can add to the "erector set" by putting a micro rail on there too. You can use a second plate for the Manfrotto gear head on the micro rail to give more options.

Hey look at this.

Nobody told me Manfrotto made their own L-Plate.

OP,

Guess that tells you something about the specialized Manfroto specific bracket/Plate then doesn't it?

If anyone care's, here's what the Manfrotto L Bracket looks like on the 410 Geared Head.

Im trying to understand whether I need the leveling base or not.
