Pocketwizard announced the new Plus X transceiver. Looks quite good for $99. You can check it out on the B&H site or at Pocketwizard. There's also a brief review on the Strobist's blog.
For the price it looks good. Couldnt find anything but the spec on B&HPhoto PocketWizard X but that strobist blog has some good info. I might pick up a couple and see how they fare with the rest of my PW's.
I think if your wanting to get into off camera flash, these are perfect for you. They are simple and bare-bones. They come with that PW name that we all know and love. At a price tag of $99, how can you go wrong.
If you have PW 2's or 3's, why would you waste your money on them. Unless you need to replace a few trigger, I wouldn't bother. My old PW 2's have been working great for all the years that Ive owned them.
Looks like a budget model to compete with all the cheap ebay brands. Actually a good idea, take a reliable and trust brand name and make an affordable bare bones version that just works which is all most people really need. I use Microsync triggers because they're affordable, simple, compact and I can velcro them right onto my flash heads.
Got one today and it is just perfect for the studio. I like the glow of the channel number that tells you its on and what channel is selected.
Simple on/off switch and that is all.
I don't even really need any other channels in the studio but it is useful when on location.
Had this come out after the IIs I would have only these. I really don't need the other features of the III but I like the range and ease of use.
wouldn't cyber syncs do the same thing with paramount reliablity and way cheaper? and not considered a ebay item but from Paul C Buff which has a pretty good reputation? or is this simply am matter of have a " pocket wizard"
On my other post regarding the Sunpak/Vivitar with the Flex TT5, I noted that PW recommends this trigger as one that can trigger the two flashes mentioned remotely. Great price too compared to what I paid for the Flex!
