I hadn't really expected to find an arch in Yosemite Valley, but there before my eyes I did. Up in the sky... As I watched that early morning light start come on, there were a few remants of clouds from the previous days snow storms. Before the sunrise actually hit, these clouds arched across the Gates of the Valley making an entrance fit for a king!
I tried to capture the feel of that early morning light as the day was breaking. I have written more about it here in my blog. I also totally reworked my website over the last few months, so if anyone wants to check it out and pass on feedback, that would be great too.
This was intended as a full frame shot, but as I was finishing it up, I thought perhaps a pano crop of it would work too, so that is photo #2.
Both are lovely but the pano really imparts a fine sense of scale to the scene. The shutter speed for the water is very effective and the pp is excellent. And the "arch" scene was nicely seen.

Beautiful captures of this location, Jim.

Big wall space required!
Thanks so much Chaz!
I am glad with the D800 I can crop! I didn't want to go any further forward because the snow was fresh and I hate to be the first to put foot prints in it. I wish the clouds would have stayed put enough to have totally been lit up with the sunrise color, but the bit of frosting color helps.
