p.1 #1 · Arizona Strip- exploring with a 4x4

While living in SW Utah I bought an old Isuzu Trooper II 4x4 w/low-range transfer case, high clearance, etc., and explored some of the dirt roads between the S. Utah state line and the Grand Canyon.
Looking for deserted mines, old ranch houses, Indian petroglyphs, and the rugged-but-beautiful high desert scenery.
Here are four examples of what I found on one day trip.

sounds like a great adventure and really a fun experience. Finding those hidden beauties is so fulfilling. Our guide to the South Coyote Buttes told me that he goes on hiking trips in and around Grand Canyon and tries to locate petroglyphs and such. Thank you for sharing these images.

Hi Charlie,

I like your presentation of the petroglyphs. I also like your shadow position in the last.

Very cool stuff, Charlie. Is that a Jeep Wagoneer? Is the one in front the prototype?

Cheers,
Ed

Thanks Brian, AMaji, John, JBR and Ed.
There are many more miles of passable dirt roads in the American SW than there are paved roads. I bought the Isuzu (not a Jeep Wagoneer ) so that when things got a bit rough I wouldn't have to turn around until I wanted to. I did NOT use it to see how far off the highway I could go before getting stuck (those guys are called Jeep Wrangler owners ).
