Here are some early morning shots from Arches NP. I was out there with Craig, and our goal was to shoot Turret Arch through the North Window. But we got a bit side tracked by the stars first.
#1 is a view walking up with just the stars.
#2 is after I thought I would see if including the moon would work.
#3 was simply trying to capture the moon with Turret Arch itself.
In hindsight we should have been out there an hour earlier, the moon was providing some nice fill light to the scene, but we were fighting the on coming sunrise that was brightening up the eastern horizon more and more, and it would have been nice to have had the moon slightly higher in the sky. So with the incoming sun on the one side, and the out going moon on the other, the stars are not super bright, but hopefully they are bright enough. For more info I blogged about it here.
Nice progression. I can see why how you could get sidetracked. I like the moon and arch combination in the third, together with the bit of dawn's pink at the horizon. Very nice.

Thanks so much Saba! I hope you are able to make it there next year, it's a pretty cool place, and if one allows themselves to get distracted a bit, there are lot's of new images to get from there.
Lovely set. I like #3 the best. Wouldn't it be cool if the moon was in the arch :P. Oh well maybe next time :P.
Jason
Hey Jason... Actually we did get some moon shots through the arch. Craig posted one with the moon in the small window of Turret Arch. But those were captured an hour or so later, so no stars in those... So yeah, it would be cool to capture the moonstar in the middle of Turret Arch... maybe next time...
