p.1 #1 · 8 after a fresh snow

Spent a few hours walking around the trail behind my apartment Sat. morning after we (central New Jersey) received about 5 inches of snow, and was rewarded with some nice opportunities. (All taken with the Sigma 150-500 on monopod.)

I'm still learning about composition & post-processing, so C&C is much appreciated.

(1) Tufted titmouse

(2) Eastern bluebird (female)

(3) Eastern bluebird (male)

(4) Red-breasted nuthatch

(5) Red-bellied woodpecker

A nice set Sam. It's 7 for me. 2 suggestions though:
1) Try to get closer so that the subject comes close to filling the frame.
2) Try to get cleaner BGs. I know it's tough, but it can be done ~ Ron

Very nice set . You did have a nice walk. Nice placement of the the birds in the shots.
2, 3 ,7 and 8 are my favorites.

I can't add much to what has already been said except this. Watch your foreground. In #4, the OOF snow is not a good idea. Keep at it.

Thanks, David & acjd. The snow in the foreground of #4 is definitely unfortunate, but I thought the framing was at least interesting.

As has been said, you've got great opportunities here with these birds! Creep up slowly, and fill that frame with your subjects!
