I've been thinking about getting a blind... I visited a family member yesterday who had a double chair blind (and a few acres of land) to test it out. After a couple hours of "testing", I took a walk around through the slighty snowy woods. To my surprise while walking in the woods, I had a 15 second fly over which I was completely unprepared for ...
Good looking set. I quite like the cardinals, with #2 being my fave. Your red-breasted is actually a white-breasted nuthatch. A lovely, classic pose of that bird.

Thanks Birdie.
The fly over was a nice surprise. I was making my way to a field at the edge of wooded property line hoping to find some local red tailed hawks over the field since the wind had picked up. I was about 30 feet from where the field starts and "forrest" ends. While trying to figure out how to get to the field edge without being mangled by tree limbs and sticker bushes, I looked through the trees over my right shoulder and saw a white head in the distance. I wondered "what is a gull doing out here?". It was flying my direction, so I watched it fly closer, going in and out of view behind the tree line. I quickly realized my error in identification and did the best I could to snap some pictures. The eagle flew right at the edge of the tree line, right where I was looking to make my way through. It looked down and hovered for 2 seconds in the wind and then was gone... It went back over the trees in the same direction it came from.

Very nice! Did you apply sharpening to these? They are all very nice, but look just a TAD soft on my monitor.
Don't have cardinals here (or I haven't seen them yet). Jealous :-)
Charles
Thank you Charles. There were lots of cardinal pairs. Many were quite "puffed" in the wind and using the evergreens as shields.
There was no sharpening other than the 25 value that I believe Adobe Camera Raw adds by default. I have AF fine tuned the lens under halogen light indoors. When the weather warms up, I plan to fine tune in the sun light.

Nice nuthatch man. I bet you get that a lot. You should have a blind. You haven't lived until you doze off in one and miss a great shot. Don
Thanks Don I have been looking at a "doghouse" blind, but the one I was borrowing was a double chair blind (same company that makes the doghouse version). I liked that the chairs were built in, but it would certainly be a tight fit for two people.
