I have never had a makeup artist working with me with any of the shoots I've done but two weeks ago I managed to get one. It was awesome! Top notch makeup and another pair of eyes checking out that hair, clothes, props and makeup are fine
This time we were trying to produce light beauty shots and this is what we got:
Agreed. You done good! Maybe just one stop hot on the sides of her head in the fourth shot, but otherwise I really like what you've come up with here. Great job!
who said the tools don't matter
excellent work, if you want nitpicking - few hotter spots (pretty much like friscoron said) but these are generally high(er) key shots so it looks natural. thanks for posting.

Thanks for your comments! I think myself that the light is worse on the sides of her head in the 1st shot and the 4th one is better

Very nice.
I am amazed how many photographers don't have a go to professional make-up artist. Make-up,hair and clothes make the shoot in my opinion.
Thanks! I do this stuff just for fun so I try to keep expenses at minimum. This time the makeup artist wanted to have some nice photos for her portfolio and we decided to collaborate. The paid stuff that I've done has usually been some "fast-in, fast-out" type business portrait stuff where I haven't been able to even think about using a MUA But you are right, a good makeup/hair artist and styling really contribute a lot to a final photo.
