Translated, the title says king Ludwig ski - a huge cross country ski race here in Bavaria. The town name is Ettal.
The race took place a few kilometers from my home, so in spite of heavy snow, I took a few camera to the event for some pictures and tried to keep them dry.
Here's a look at just how many people were in the event - about 4000 or so.
1 is impressive just for the sheer amount of skiers in the shot. Holy cow, hate to be in the back of that pack if you're competitive! Nice use of motion blur.
Like the others, I'm really digging 2! What a great scene for a cross-country race! Beautiful!
Nothing quite like a white winter in the Bavarian Alps. By the way, my favorite place in the world is ski is not very far: Kitzbuhel, Austria.

Lots of nice ski areas here, Ron. Garmish and Zugspitze are close by and there's a small hill I can walk to and see from my dining room. PM me if you come for skiing. We'll need to raise a glass or two.
I just learned you are now living in Germany. Wie gehts?
Of these two images I prefer image 2. I like that image for showing the spread of race leaders etc.
I also like the way the leader (I suppose), or right-most racer is in yellow...and how the racers on far left fade out a bit (snow fall + distance).
Have fun in the snow and new location.
Steady
Hi Steady. Yes, I moved here in August and will stay for 3 years.
As for #2 pic - I like the swoop of the hills and the way the snow faded everything, especially the sky.
Thanks for your comments.

The cool tones in #2 really work. I feel cold looking at it.
It wasn't all that cold, Bob. More wet. I kept one camera inside my jacket and the other one had to stay outside in the big wet flakes of snow. The lens hood was useful to keep the lens surface free of snow.
