p.1 #1 · Looking for Feedback on 24-105 F4L / 7D Combination
Hello,
I am looking to upgrade my walking around lens that I use with my 7D. I currently use a Tamron 28-75mm F2.8. I find the IQ is pretty good with this lens, but the AF speed is slow.
Every now and then I see a pristine copy of the 24-105 F4L lens come up for sale. One was just listed today with a UZ code for $775. I am thinking I may rent one to test it out myself. Before doing so I wanted to see if any 7D users have thoughts about this lens on the 7D. How would it compare to my Tamron?
The other idea would be to find a good used copy of the 28-70 F2.8L. I think this would cost $150 or so more than the 24-105L. Any thoughts on the trade-offs of these two?
I should point out that I am OK with heavy lenses - I have the 70-200 F2.8 and 300 F4 for my telephoto needs. I also have the 85 F1.8 and nifty 50 for my primes.

I mentioned in the poll thread , but I'll be a tad more specifice about the 24-105/7D combo here.
Ive used the L on 4 different crop bodies that Ive had (XT, XSi 40D & 7D) . and the first 3 It was fine . I found it to be an excellent lens.
but i was pretty dissapointed with it on the 7D. i dont know if its becuase of the extra pixel density of the 18mp sensor but it just doesnt look great. the 17-55 knocks the socks off it .
maybe i need to go back to a 10mp (40D) body and dual test both lenses to see if i notice the difference
