I hear you... Short of rappelling down out of the rafters, I am kind of stuck with it! It looks worse with a standard lens. At least the fish-eye adds a slight curve to it so its not as bad.
Even if the Arena would let me, which they wouldn't, my wife already said no to the rappelling from the rafters idea...
Those of you that like #2 the best, that is taken from the platform where the spotlight operators would stand during a concert. Its still about 20-40 feet above the seats below. In photo #2 you can almost see where I am at in photo #1, those squares (HVAC ducts) as they curve to the right, I was just past the last one.
The beams aren't a problem for me. I just wish you could get an angle where they curve more dramatically and echo the curve of the stadium. Sometimes, though, you just can't get there. Beautiful shots.
