I can't images to look sharp on my website for the life of me. Export at 1001 on the long side, 72 dpi. and they look fuzzy on the webpage but sharp as all get out in PS.
What am I doing wrong? I'm using prophoto 4 with the most up to date wordpress. drag and drop uploading with no plug ins that mess with the image.

yes on sharpening for the web, long edge is 1001 because that is the max width of the theme
That may be the max width of the theme but not what size images it is showing. The problem is your site is scaling the images and not doing a good job of it apparently.
It's compression that's getting you. If you export too large for the margin set in your blog, your site will down-res to fit, which almost always results in softness due to interpolation.
I had this same problem. I set my image width on my blog to 800px wide. What I didn't know is that the blog template actually adds another 15 or 20 or 30px to the mix. So when I resized my images to 800px, they were too big (they should have been at like 780px or something). Once I resized my blog template width to 820 or 840 or something, then uploaded my 800px images, everything went just fine.
Prophoto also has an automatic "downsizing/resampling" option somewhere in the settings. There's a tutorial on their website for trouble shooting un-sharp images.
