Not the 600, but I've got an RRS TVC-33 and Wimberley II head for my 500II. I've also got a Feisol CM-1471 with an RRS MH-01 monopod head for traipsing around fields where I don't want to heft the tripod along. Both work quite nice and I imagine would be fine with the 600II as well.
No tripod for 600 II. The lens is within the handholding capacity of grown men and women.
However, boys and girls can use 600 II on a variety of tripods, unlike the situation with its predecessor where only the strongest tripod kind was advisable, such as Gitzo Series 5.
+1 so far it has been fine on my 34L and BH55. I usually just have it on the tripod till some action happens and then take it off for handheld flight shots. That said, I've barely had a chance to use my 600II yet so hoping for better weather and the return of some birds in the next month or so
I use a gitzo 5 Series and a Wimberly II head
You can hand hold this lens for short periods, but definitely need a sturdy tripod if used with 1.4X Extender
Have also used the Wimberley Sidekick on an Arca Z2 ballhead for lighter weight when I travel internationally
I use a Gitzo GT4542LS (4 series systematic) tripod, RRS universal leveling base, and either a Wimberley v2 gimbal w/RRS cradle or RRS BH-55 head. I've used my 800mm with this same support system and it works like a charm; very solid!
