Here are some shots from my son's squirt game, he is #60. I had to shoot through the glass with available light, but it worked out ok. Would love some C&C and advice on settings for Canon 5dm3... First time shooting with the new body.
Well you've certainly got the equipment needed to shoot hockey. Your 5dMK3 can handle much higher iso than 2500. I would probably push it to 4000 and get your SS up to 1/1000th or so. Usually hockey rinks have pretty even lighting so I would go to manual instead of shutter priority. You were underexposing in these so check your histogram and make sure you have better exposure. Second make sure you have the lens right up to the glass. I use rubber lens hoods so I can put the lens right against the glass. This helps with reflections and you get a much cleaner shot. I would probably shoot the 70-200 at 2.8 personally but that shouldn't be a big deal. Keep firing and have fun!
I will try pushing the exposure, I think that is the biggest issue. and yep, just missed the puck on #2. As for the out of focus, what have you folks found to be the best focus configuration for hockey?

Shooting with a Nikon. ;D
I agree with the others they all appear slightly underexposed, too much motion blur, and missed focus.
