Show us other angles! The knurled ring seems designed to go on a tripod screw, and the other end could be as simple as a cable strain relief, but I'm probably completely wrong.
1Dx or 1D4 huh? Definitely nothing I can use! Anyone want it? I don't see myself with a 1Dx or mk4 for a while, unless I find a really good deal on a mk4

It looks like a "System extension terminal" cable protector dohickey for securing a WiFi transmitter to a 1DIV or 1DX camera.
Wow, whoever sold the OP the lens might start missing the "doohickey" if he/she decides to go WiFi! Or does it come with the WiFi transmitter...

That's the problem, it was in a generic box. I have no idea who I got it from!

I have a Mk IV and an X, but don't see any wifi with those bodies in my future.

Jess, you probably already have two of those "System extension terminal" cable protector dohickey things in the original camera boxes. I wouldn't have noticed, except I RTFM!

Built for, but not with! ...

It is for the 1DMKIII USB cable. With out it the USB jacks were breaking off the cameras.
I have a MkIII as well. I've read all of the manuals, but I always skip any sections pertaining to cables. Flash cards move between cameras and computers, cameras are never connected to computers. OK, that's an exaggeration, but I've got DSLRs with all kinds of cables (I'm waiting for a Thunderbolt connector) that have never been used. Wireless "tethering", i.e. wifi, would be nice in the studio, though, so disregard everything I've written in this thread. I think I'll gather all the unused cables and make a rainy day project of inventing uses for them.
