Sorry to hear about your ankle Conrad, but this is a marvelous shot and will certainly be one you will always remember.
Get better buddy!
I cannot tell you what the surgery is like from the patient side, but as an old OR Nurse I can tell you that healing is normally much better with the surgery. Also, most of the screws and plates used now are non-ferrrous and will not set on the metal detectors.
Good Luck and get better soon... we all want to see more pictures.
Anthony
Hmmm.... good to know Anthony. I'll be sure to consider your advice sir!

From this sample however, I'm thinking you are taking a bit of solace in the knowledge you FREAKIN NAILED this Owl buddy

spooky cool shot Conrad. Those eyes are intense! What are all the little white specs? These are magnificent owls to see. I guess you will have memories of these for many years to come for an obvious reason
Watch your email, I just may have some floral RAW's to cut loose on that should keep you busy for a few weeks
Take care buddy
Karl
The little specs are snow my friend! Send me your floral RAW's brother
Sorry to hear about the leg. My advise is do the surgery. I had a boot top break in 7th grade and were given the same option. I got the cast. My leg is 5/8 shorter, yeah I limp kinda, I can't spend too much time on flat surfaces or my hips get all in a bind, and now that I'm nearly 50 I have recently found out what all those people say about the weather changing. That's still a shock as it feels like it's broke all over again until the front passes.
On the up side, it hasn't really slowed me down much. I hiked, hunted, fished, and rode ever since. Walking on the left side of the road naturally works for me since the curb is lower and I had broke my right leg so it's like I'm walking on flat ground
Either way, get well and get back out there! ...Show more →
Thank you Joe. I will try to get out there soon as I can!

Awesome photo Conrad !!! sorry about your injury - speaking from experience go for the surgical restoration if the ligaments are damaged, you need them, alternative is frequent future sprained ankles when they don't do what they are designed for.

Conrad, I am very sorry to hear about your injury. Not that you are looking for advice, but if it were me I would probably go the surgery route in order to have a higher probability of getting back to 100% permanently, but good luck regardless..
Are you serious about wanting to see some raw files to play with? I was in the central valley at Camanche reservoir last Saturday looking for eagles and other birds. The weather was grey and very contrasty all day and we never got really close to the birds so I have been hesitant to post any here...but if you want to play around with one or two I would be interested in seeing what you can do with them. Just let me know.
