Spent the last couple of mornings on Mississippi River batture . The term battures is applied, principally, to certain portions of the bed of the Mississippi, which are left dry when the water is low, and are covered again, when the river rises.
River rising quickly so will not have my "spot" much longer.
Seeing all of your marvelous in flights handheld have me trying to get the strength to do some.
Must say that ibuprofen and icy hot work wonders for the sore shoulder and wrist muscles
So, here are a few from the last couple of days all 500mm handheld . I really am loving the D800 and the autofocus. I never would have gotten some of these shots with the D7000.
As always your comments, nits, crits and suggestions are much appreciated.
Hope you enjoy,
Birdie

I'm good with you hanging the GBH out in those wonderful open comps, works well for me, nice take on it.
impressive leveling with the Ibis passing the spillway, nice horizontal split on them
I'm loving this set Birdie!!! When I saw the Cormie in the preview at the top of the forum page I thought it was one of mine! Really nice light on him and an excellent shot. I find them to be quite rewarding to photograph when you get them right and you sure did. I too like the open comps on GBHs, it lets us see into their world. The multiple peli shot is wonderful, no chopped birds there, that's something that bugs me about group shots. The whole set is wonderful. You should spend more time on the batture for sure
Very nice Birdie. I know hand holding can be taxing, but the rewards are sweet. This is a very nice set. The odd ones - opps, I mean the odd numbered ones are my picks ~ Ron

Dandy work on the set IMO

Thanks Karl, glad you liked them. Sometimes I like to get the environment in the shots. As to the leveling, had to help that out a bit in post
