p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · 24-70 ll & wresteling

I went to the local HS to try out the 24-70 ll wit the Dx. The images were shot from f3.5 to 4.5 flashed direct on camera at about an 1/8 power.

Andy....I like the results. Looks like you have this combo dialed in. I've only used the 24-70 a few times for wrestling and these tell me to break it out again.

Nice work.

Andy: These are really nice. It appears you were pretty much on the edge of the mat. Were you using any type of diffuser on the flash? I am an ex-wrestler but I find this the hardest sport to get interesting shots. The last time I shot they used one light above the mat for lighting. Looks kind of cool for the athletes but not for the photographer. Thanks for posting.

Looks great! I have used a similar technique, only using my 7d with 70-200 and 580EX set to ETTL.

I also agree with Ben, but wrestlers "get" wrestling photos better than others since they understand what is going on better.

Thanks for sharing!

Ben,
Yea on the edge, otherwise the 24-70 is too short. No diffuser on the flash, but it was turned down to 1/8 power and the iso was 1000 I think.

Frank,
Thanks! I'm liking the lens alot. I ditched the 24-105 for the ver ll. This was just an out of the box shoot to test and get a feel for the AF speed and accuracy and IQ of the lens. (its a keeper!)
