But here's the reality folks.

I've ditched my m43's system twice to go to the NEX and there simply isn't the natively supported lens base yet - and this is two YEARS after launch! There's ONE Zeiss lens that's worth the camera / sensor and NO worthy zooms - I've tried them all. I've resolved to stick with camera systems that actually have good lenses on the market today and

my NEX-7 has fantastic lenses already today, and i already have the the amazing lenses for my hypothetical NEX-9.

if the answer comes from zeiss i'm afraid it will almost certainly be make the lenses bigger. if we want the lenses to be compact i'm afraid will have to rely on sony for the answer.

Yes, I read the last little insert/paragraph in Jim's link. The title threw me off a bit because they tied very real announcements with more rumors.

I believe this is a misunderstanding. The article tied a very real announcement of the two new lenses with what is essentially just more rumors of a FF NEX camera. They tossed in a little insert/paragraph at the end about Zeiss FF lenses. Yes, there is a FF nex video camera and lenses, the article itself did little other than add on more rumors to everyone's wish, a FF nex.

Speedbooster? How do you like it? I'm very curious to its real world performance. I skimmed RCicala's article and while the numbers are great, the blooming, added astigmatism & distortion, bokeh come to mind. What is your take on it? I'm about to jump to the speedbooster thread, if you've already posted about these there.

If you're referencing something else, don't mind the above.

The coming of FF NEX is inevitable. It is only a matter of when. The only thing doing well from Sony imaging division is the NEX line-up, and they finally recognize that. I personally would like they spend enough time with development of the FF NEX so it would not be half-baked. They should pay more attention to photography-oriented fora with mature participants as FM and GetDPI instead of listening to the ridiculous suggestions on SAR or constant whining on DPreview.

i don't have the SB adapter, still deciding myself. i just meant i already have all the lenses i need should the hypothetical nex-9 appear and that i'm very happy with the performance of my manual focus lenses on the nex-7 (i don't do AF).

No argument there. I don't know about SAR, but I do know DPreview has quite an internet presence. I wonder if the Sony team even knows about FM or GetDPI or trust us enough to take cues from users here. Perhaps we should all email those in charge of development or sign some kind of online petition.

I don't know if anyone would like to make a draft of what "realistically" everyone here would like to see in the NEX FF. There were tons of polls like that on SAR, but then again (as much as I respect Andreas work on SAR, I don't think he has much clue on the need of photographers) they were riddled with unrealistic features. Then make a petition on Change.org or similar site. I think that would be more effective.

+1, in pretty much all regards except my FF lineup isn't complete (I still need a 35/1.4, 85, 135 and 200 to round out my current 17, 24, 28, 50, 90, 100, 300)

I only care that I can put Zeiss ZM and Leica and Voigtlander lenses on it and have them perform well into the corners.

The value for me is mainly as a compact 35mm digital back.

Based on the performance of the VG900, I've lost some optimism this will be possible.

I am less price sensitive, because I realize there's a scarcity of affordable digital substitutes.

'..they were riddled with unrealistic features'

You mean like when FM has a thread asking what some forthcoming CZ lens should be, the thread gets inundated with realistic suggestions by 'photographers who know their needs' like: 200/1.8, 50/1.0, and the like? lol.

I sincerely hope any company capable of conceiving, developing and producing the RX1, a99 and NEX does not listen to Getdpi or FM chatter, or even be aware it existed.

That's why I suggested to draw up a proposal instead so that we can all agree upon which features are needed. I only frequent the Alt forum, and I believe some here would come up with something feasible, instead of the "200/1.8, 50/1.0.." crap. Just like you have been using the A99, and you would not what you want to add into the next FF, "realistically."

And I sure hope Sony and other camera brands are aware of the photography forum such as this. It is their job to weed out the non-sense, but it's always good to know what the majority want. Just like people wanted pancake, and they slowly come out with more and better quality.

I still don't own a native lens for my NEX-7, I have my 1DIII & L's for AF duty, which is better than any mirrorless to date for AF, ok maybe not the fastest single shot focusing, but how fast do trees move, it's when the subject is moving that I want AF, something mirrorless still struggles with.(for now anyways)
RE: lens selection, I have near 100 MF lenses to choose from, so a good 35-50mm prime at launch is more than enough for me.
