p.1 #1 · How I fixed my broken 3-party battery grip tab
Well over a year ago, I ordered a cheap 3rd-party copy of the Nikon MB-D11 grip for the D7000. It served me well....... until last fall when I finally pulled off the latching tab. I made a fix by using two small patches of velcro, but I knew that would be a temporary solution.
So last night, I had an epiphany. I have the AA tray that came with the grip...... and I've never used it. So I wondered..... would the broken parts from the EN-EL15 tray be interchangeable with the AA tray?
Out to the van I went, and got my jewelers screwdrivers. Three tiny screws on both, pull the parts off the AA tray, and reassemble on the EN-EL15 tray.

Cool.
To bad you didn't think of doing that over a year ago.
I used to have great ideas like this. Now, I am 66, and all those years of memories and half-baked thoughts slow everything down to a crawl. Now, I'm surprised if it only takes a year for the idea to make it through the clutter. My brain is sort of like the sun. I heard on Nova (PBS) science that it takes a photon formed at the center of the sun almost 30,000 years to get to the sun's surface because it spends so much time bouncing around going in different directions. Once it gets past the traffic jam and leaves the surface, it's a quick 8 minute trip to earth, so it can light your photo!
So, I still; have the ideas, but it takes a long time bouncing around in there to reach the surface. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
