I find the shipping rates to be horrible and I have to pass that on to the clients - I didn't see anything in the sticky thread particular for Canada so I'm particularly interested to know if you found a better way to do this or if you know of a decent a vendor in Canada? Especially for DVD disc printing and canvases.

Do you guys lump orders with other local photographers? That possibility has cross my mind.

I'm pretty sure Black River Imaging ships to Canada. Granted I've never looked at their rates, but they have great online customer support up until 10pmCST

I've stuck to KISS for albums. Prints 8x10 upto 16x20 I print in the studio. Smaller I have a local print in volume and mark up accordingly. There are lots of print shops all over the place just look around for the for trade only places and you should be good.

I know what you mean. I remember when ProDPI upped their shipping rates at the same time as Moo, just after WHCC.

I use GTA Imaging for prints and canvases and I've been pretty happy with the quality. I've heard good things about Colourgenics and QSQ Giclee Boutique too.

These are all Toronto based:

colourgenics.com
qsqinc.com
pikto.com

sboreup, & Ghost, I like BRI but last time I ordered some test prints (10x12) and a test DVD case which came in a slim package, the whole shipping came to $30. If I ship a 16x20 canvas which costs around $90 right now, I would hate to see what the shipping would add to my cost.

Thank you bwield and tami1215 for the local recos!! Much appreciated!

Technicare is based in Edmonton. They do THE best canvases I've seen. They've got lots of other print and press products as well. Some of it's a little dated but it's all really high quality.

I use BRI too. It's great receiving the album 2-3 days after ordering it.

to echo some of what others have said: some of the local shops like pikto or colourgenics do canvas/gallery wraps for similar prices compared to BRI.

For products (probably albums) from the US that you absolutely love and want to incorporate into your brand, build the shipping into your price. $50-$80 shipping on an album that may sell to clients for $1500+ isn't too much to build in. It simply becomes part of the price of the book.
