they are big. Makes a leopard look small. Not too close on this one but I did stick my head up over a bank to see one looking at me about 12 feet away.

I have seen fresh jaguar prints in the wet sand of a remote beach in the Darien of Panama. Their paws are huge, and I was awed. Looking at the animal itself from 12 feet away must have been incredible--or maybe you were cursing that your 500mm+tc wouldn't focus that close .
