A shot from my summer trip to Brazil. A mother jaguar and 2 almost grown cubs had been feeding on a cow that had died after becoming mired in the mud. The carcass was near the shore of the river we were on. We beached the boat and set up tripods and spent the next 5 hours watching and photographing the family. I used a Canon 1D4 and my old 500mm (subsequently sold here on FM0 with 1.4xTC. We saw 11 different jaguars in 7 days. Post processing consisted of cropping and darkening the edges to make it more dramatic and focus attention on the face. Pixel Genius sharpening. http://www.pbase.com/wfr2/image/148433510.jpg
Of all the big cats, this is the most secretive and least photographed. You should consider yourself more than lucky to have seen let alone spent five hours with a family of jaguars.
Please post some more. Very well done.
